Evaluation of SNH’s Sharing Good Practice (SGP) Programme

The aim of the SGP programme is to share good practice about the natural environment with practitioners.

Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) wanted to review its SGP programme with a view to making improvements, draw in ideas from any comparable programmes, and design a monitoring and evaluation system.

Deskwork showed the SGP programme to be innovative and ahead of the game – we found no comparable programme sharing good practice. Phone interviews with participants from a sample of SGP Events, further interviews with a sample of people involved in providing the Events and a desk review of Feedback Forms were used to review the programme. Feedback showed substantial achievement of SGP objectives, and areas to strengthen the programme further.

We also designed a monitoring and evaluation system for the SGP programme, to align with their management plan.
